In my country Nigeria, people often talk about the beauty of Abuja. I had watch video clips of Abuja and see the beautiful and modern houses but it was a pleasant surprise when I stepped into my city for the first time. We came into the city at dusk time, passing through the awe-inspiring city gate that has many flowers planted around it. By the side of it, in the distance, we saw the ultra-modern Abuja stadium and the Game Village, which was used for the 'All African Games' last year.

Abuja became the federal capital city of Nigeria almost thirty years ago, and had been lavished with the country’s oil money. The streets, road and buildings looked so new, clean and beautiful, making me to hold my breath. Occasionally a wisp of fresh cement tingles the nostril mixed with the harmattan winds blowing from across the sahara desert. The vegetation is a luscious savanna type that is appealing to the eyes. And above all the city is so calm and peaceful, giving one the feeling that he is in paradise. No wonder the sudden influx of people and tourist into Abuja the past two years had be tremendous!

I made up my mind right-away to make Abuja my home. I stayed in my junior sister's house till I found my bearing and moved to my apartment. So did all my siblings who came visiting - nine in all.
