Black Diamond, Alberta

We only moved here less than a year ago. We had fallen in love with this little town just south west of Calgary. Driving in from every direction you are mesmerized by the beauty of the Kootenay mountains. The comforting feeling they provide as they overlook us and protect us. A wonderful feeling knowing you are going home.

Now we have lived in small towns all over Alberta but this one is the one for any small town family or person looking to settle in one place. People are accepted the moment they pass that town limit. Smiling faces, cheerful greetings and open arms into the community. People pass on the street, with a tip of the hat, a quick smile, or a friendly hello.

The school is filled with teachers that love their jobs and are happy to see the kids. The kids love their school, teachers and friends are abundant. The community police are familiar with the faces in our town. The doctors are looking out for their patients and not passing them through like cattle. The nurses are happy to be assisting them. Smiling and helpful with any questions you might ask.

We have many small businesses, so don't let our size fool you. The work of our numerous local artists can be viewed in our local businesses. Being one of them I was surprised to learn of the number of local artists in what at first I thought was such a small town. Creativity is only one of the many talents located here. We have gorgeous garden centers with great ideas and expertise to assist in projects of any size. Tradesman, contractors, new and used for all your needs.

A stranger to our neighbors they welcomed us with great enthusiasm. Strangers helping strangers and becoming friends. Neighbors helping others because they want to and for no other reason. The strength of our community being the strong family connections, community support and involvement.

Black Diamond, Alberta is a place for anyone looking to get out of the city but live close enough to reap the benefits of city life.
