What makes Buffalo, N.Y. such a great place? Many factors -- including the frigid winters! Buffalo's snow offers the perfect excuse to ski or to try out night tubing, while those who prefer to balance on thin slivers of steel can circle around the downtown rink to the piped Musak until they can no longer feel their fingers or toes. How heavenly, then, is a cup of the Solid Ground's cup of cocoa! Pink swirls of raspberry-flavored whipped cream tickle your nose, while your taste buds party over the Ghiradelli chocolate-based brew.

As the City of Brotherly Love is truly a melting pot, it's the perfect place to please your palate. Sure, we created the original chicken wing, but the Anchor Bar isn't the only show in town. The downtown area boasts numerous fine eateries including steak and seafood houses, wine bars, burger joints, and even the grits and other southern fare typically found in the Bayou.

As well, downtown offers a variety of live theaters. While the Irish Classical Theatre showcases the works of outstanding Irish playwrights, other theaters focus on offerings for children. And the city's magnificently restored Shea's Theater proudly hosts traveling Broadway shows.

If libations are your fancy, you can party on the city's famous Chippewa street till the cows come home -- or at least until the numerous bars close in the wee hours of the morn.

When it come to physical character, Buffalo holds its own. A hundred years ago Buffalo was home to more millionaires than any other American city. We're damn lucky that the preservationists in this town have ensured that many of the gorgeous mansions still stand. The Mansion, Buffalo's premier luxury B&B, for example, stood forlornly empty for 20 years before being refurbished just several years ago. Though haunted by a little girl with blond curls, it's THE place for celebrities, including Hilary Clinton and Faith Hill.

Maybe they were attracted by the best thing Buffalo has to offer: its people. We're just plain nice! Visit Buffalo (and, of course, nearby Niagara Falls), and find out for yourself. Summer is a lovely time to visit!
