United States > California > Cerritos
If you desire to live in a City that is neither too far away from Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, LA International Airport nor major attractions such as Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm, then come to my beautiful City of Cerritos. Situated in the eastern side of LA County, neighboring the Orange County, Cerritos has it all. I am proud of my City because Cerritos has one of the best school districts in the nation, a world class Center for the Performing Arts, a library built on state-of-the-art technology, one of nation's biggest auto square, very well planned business areas and many more. Above all, it has not only well maintained neighborhoods but also quiet and peaceful residential areas. Each morning I go happily to my school, be with my friends and learn new things from my wonderful teachers. We also learn about Cerritos history. It was once known as City of Dairy Valley. In fact at that time the cows had outnumbered the City's residents by 29 to one. Eventually, Cerritos became the fastest growing City in California. It dedicated the nation's first solar-heated City Hall complex. That was exciting to know that Cerritos has pioneered in many areas. After school, I normally go to the City library and gaze at the magnificent structure, surrounded by wonderful landscaping and unique water fountains. The library was the first titanium clad structure in the United States. Inside I can see a huge aquarium containing different species of fish swimming around. There are four floors that can hold more than 2000 people and more than 3000 books and videos. The children's library has a full size dinosaur skeleton, a space shuttle, a live tree and a planetarium of moon and stars. Sometimes when I feel gloomy and tired, I would just want to go to my library and find solace under the water fountain looking at all the fish swimming in schools. For fun, my mom would take me to the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts , where musicians, dancers, and theaters from all around the world come to perform. I feel like an angel sitting in one of the 1800 soft cushioned chairs awaiting the curtains to rise and performance to begin. We often go to the Cerritos Auto square which has brought lots of prosperity to the City. My baby brother loves watching different cars and taking some rides. We would hear people whispering how great the dealers are and feel lucky to live in Cerritos. Then there is Los Cerritos mall which has all the fun there is in the world-from shopping, car rides to children shows and of course the food court! Of! how can I forget my swimming lessons in Cerritos Olympic swim center, my softball games in Cerritos sports complex. This is the place where all the sports and activities takes place. Cerritos has total of 28 parks. I can walk, dance, have parties and enjoy life. The seniors also have their own senior Center that offers variety of special events and services. That's where my grandparents usually go. We are also protected by our own Cerritos sheriff Station that offers full range of public safety services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is good to know help is nearby when needed. When I take a walk in the evening with my parents, I enjoy the well kept neighborhoods and friendly neighbors greeting us as we pass by. As the sun goes down, I see the pretty yellow, pink, blue, orange and purple colors across the sky, birds chirping merrily on the trees, faint shadow of moon peeping from the clouds, and a sense of pride and joy fills my heart to know that I am part of Cerritos.
