In the N.E. Corner of Arkansas is a small town called Corning. A town I call home. A place where they smile at you in the stores, the restaurants, and on the street. A place where people know you by name, your not just a face.

A quick trip to the store ends up longer due to you seeing people you know and stopping to say hello and to converse. Some people may think our town is boring. The local newspaper only comes out once a week. Not much news to tell, not a lot of crime. If a strange vehicle is at your house, the neighbors notice. Not out of being nosey, but being aware. Neighbors watch out for one another and care.

It's a quiet little town at night where you can safely let your dog out during the late hours. I enjoy knowing that I can work in my flowerbeds and stay out till after dark without running inside to hide behind locked doors in fear. Children play in the park, walk on the streets. They don't run away terrified because a vehicle drives down the street. Many people say, as do I, that Corning rolls up the sidewalks at dark. To be honest there aren't sidewalks to roll up.

We have 2 stores open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. So if you need gasoline or other items they are there for your convenience. Inside each one are booths where people enjoy drinking beverages, eating, and some people are regulars that frequent the store to meet with friends. It's a place where when you aren't afraid to let your child play in the backyard without an adult. Where you aren't afraid to let your child go down the street to play. Corning is a town made up of many different faiths, different lifestyles. Farmers and farmhands, laborers and contractors, consumers and merchants, rich and poor, handicapped and retired, young and old. All who call it home sweet home.
