The pulse of a town is measured in the heart beat of its people. Fayetteville’s pulse is sometimes fast and sometimes slow—but never without color, flavor, or character.

The green carpeted hills that surround Fayetteville are quiet and strong. They invite you for an afternoon drive with quiet thoughts humming in your ear like the slow steady push of blood moving through your veins.
Dickson Street is alive in the night with people striding to the aerobic rhythm of purpose filled fun. Party on the Patio goers mix with Walton Arts Center patrons. Bikers mix with bankers. University students mix with jaded company executives. They come together for blues festivals, Mardi Gras celebrations, and just plain ole’ Friday night good times.

There is something for everyone to enjoy in Fayetteville. Whether you are one extreme or the other or somewhere in between, there is something for you to enjoy. Fayetteville invites you in no matter who you are, where you come from, or what you want. It doesn’t judge you, it embraces you. Are you a red neck? Come on down to Cool Water and have a beer, Bubba! Do you have a cultural bent? Shall we attend the Symphony or see John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath at the University! Are you a business man? Let’s find a millionaire to talk to about your next investment! Are you homeless? We’d like to give you a meal, compassion, and a place to stay.

Dorothy said, “There’s no place like home.” Chicago is great! I love shopping the Magnificent Mile. Dallas is exceptional! There’s nothing like a late night supper at Del Frisco’s. But when the plane lands and the door opens, I am always glad when the co-pilot says, “Welcome to Northwest Arkansas.” It means I’ll have a quite drive into the town I love. It means dinner, long and loud, with best friends. It means that my heartbeat is in tune again with the currents in the air and the flow of the traffic.
It means I’m home.
