When I think of Ledyard I think of a safe historic old fashioned kind of town. No matter who you are you can always feel welcome in Ledyard. Personally I like Ledyard for the way they have opened up to my family and me. We moved to Ledyard from California, it was a scary time for the four of us we had fears of not being accepted in school and in our community. Ledyard then did something that I thought would be impossible, they opened up and accepted us. We had neighbors bring us cookies and the principle gave my sister and me a personal tour of our new school. They did not have to do this but they did just to make us feel welcome. It was weird because all my family lives in California but for some reason we felt like we have family back here. We are not the only family to have experienced this. Ledyard is home too many military families who move all around the nation. Ledyard opens up its heart and makes each family feel accepted in its own special way. Ledyard will always make you feel welcome, even if your just visiting you will feel right at home in one of Ledyard’s four bed and breakfasts. Ledyard is not a big town but it has all you need including a gas station, library, places to eat, marketplaces and even two casinos down the road. The schools at Ledyard try to get as many clubs and activities as possible so that there is something for everyone including a outing club, chess club, robotics club and is even involved in the Relay For Life which is a fundraiser for cancer.
Ledyard is a cool relaxed place with a down home feeling and a welcoming attitude. I love this town and am proud to be a part of it.
