I hate when we have to turn the Marquis off. It means the streets will be quiet for a while. Quiet makes me think, I think way to much. I am a suburbanite, wishing to exist in a city much different than this. I work at a small artsy movie theater where only the "I" on the Marquis sadly attempts to light up the night sky, on our 2 block downtown strip of Royal Oak. My mom calls me a yuppie in disguise. I agree, but hide my face with my black bangs hoping no one will notice.

Ok perhaps I am being a little dramatic, but like I said it gets quiet, and I have a 20 min bike ride home to think, I am just bored. And smoking cigarettes doesn't keep you entertained for long, although it can be fun to watch the smoke dance, or try to keep up with the speed of my bike. I like to imagine Royal Oak with lollipop flowers and cream filled rocks, and brightly painted everything. My obsession with Willy Wonka will get me no where in life. I love the echo of barren streets. I am such a spoiled whiny bra......CRASH.....The streets are completely quiet now. I look down at my town, nothing has changed except for the blood stain on the street corner with the faded red fire hydrant, and a crippled bike. A warning to the unappreciative.
