Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania

My town's claim-to-fame is obviously our unusual name. We often forget the novelty of having a name like Slippery Rock. I think that the majority of people would be surprised to find out what a small, seemingly normal town Slippery Rock really is. We're home to Slippery Rock University (Home of the Rockets), and it's your basic college community.

We have a tiny restaurant, called Camelot. It's so small and unnoticeable, that if you didn't know it was there, you'd pass it right by. The secret behind this widely ignored greasy spoon, is that it's haven to Slippery Rock's truest locals. This is where only the real Slippery Rockians go to eat bacon, eggs, toast, and pancakes all for 99 cents. Not to mention, a never ending cup of coffee. The waitresses know everyone by name, along with even their most obscure orders. Camelot is only one of the numerous examples of our tight-knit small town.

If someone is sick, grieving, celebrating, happy, sad-whatever, everyone in the town knows, and is there to be happy or sad with them. I love living in a town where no one thinks twice about smiling at each other on the street or lending a hand. This is why I love living in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
