If you never been to South Central LA, chances are you’ve probably heard of the negative image portrayed by the media. The media portrays South Central as a dangerous place to live. A place where the crime is high and the success rate is low, but there is more to my town than what the camera depicts. Sure my town isn’t perfect, but than again who can honestly their town is.

Living in a small house on the corner of a busy street, I get to witness a lot of things and as result I began to appreciate my town even more. I learn that nothing last forever, no matter how good or bad it may seen, but unfortunately the bad things always seemed to last the longest. When the good times came around, we held on to it for as long as we could ‘til it was nothing left to hold on to.

Summer time is one of the best memories I have of my town. The streets are filled with life and excitement, as children prance around with no shoes while they engaged in all day water fights. The older people always have loud parties that will last all night with no particular reason at all, but just to have fun. The fun doesn’t last though. Pretty soon everybody has got to make a living. Some people are very well off, but for most money doesn’t come so easy. They are contently struggling to feed their love ones and pay their bills and they still manage to smile despite their pain. That is were the true beauty comes from, people who try to make a difference. Although, my town isn’t the best place to live, I learn that it isn’t were you come from, but it’s what you take away from it.
