Sunnyvale is a town that makes you feel right at home. I was not born in Sunnyvale, as a matter of fact I am from Maryland, but being in California since 1976 I feel like it is home. I did not always live in Sunnyvale, I lived in other towns, which were at the time I thought was great, but when I moved to Sunnyvale I had to ask myself " why didn't I move here sooner."

Sunnyvale is located about 45 miles north of San Francisco, right in the heart of Silicon Valley, yes home of high technology companies. My town was not always the home of high tech. in 1912(before my time) it was fruit and apricot fields. It became a charted city in 1949.

The population is about 131,760, sounds like a lot but not really, it is a very quite town. People go to work everyday to make money to feed their families just like people do in other towns. The people are very friendly, everyone is like family. We all look out for each other.

Sunnyvale as of 2003 was ranked the 5th safest city in America in its population category(100,000-499-99) and 10th safest city overall. We have the lowest crime rate, and that makes us all feel safe.
My town used to have the worlds largest cannery, now that spot on that street has a large water tank.
Sunnyvale has its own library which I love. In front of the library is a bronze statue out to lunch-a man with rolled up sleeves, burger in one hand book in the other) it makes a great conversation piece, at least for my grandchildren.

I love airplanes, and Sunnyvale is about 3 miles from Moffett Field, so I get to see the planes when they come in, as a matter of fact they fly right over my house. THAT IS SO COOL.

In July we have music in the street and what fun that is. We all gather downtown and each week there is a different band and we dance like there is no tomorrow. The restaurants are awesome. Any kind of food you want there is a restaurant to suite you taste.

The farmers market is great. I love going on Sat. morning even if I don't buy anything. There is always someone there you know, and most of the time we have coffee or tea and just catch up.

My town is a place you should come to visit, it is not like a big city and it is not like a small country, it is just a place where you will feel at home. Like other towns , there are a few people who like getting in trouble, so they get taken away for a few days, but if there was no excitement it would not be living.

If you like live music on the weekend, if you just want to get out and walk, want to have a cool drink or eat the best food, you will not be disappointed when you come to my town Sunnyvale, California.
